Guru Purnima

Paying deepest reverence to our spiritual teachers, preceptors, and Sage Ved Vyasa on the sacred full moon of Ashadha.

Guru Purnima

Mythological Story

Guru Purnima commemorates the birth of Maharshi Ved Vyasa, the revered sage who classified the four Vedas, composed the 18 Puranas, Mahabharata, and Brahma Sutras. It is also celebrated as the day Lord Shiva, as the Adi Guru (First Teacher), began transmitting yogic wisdom to the Saptarishis on the banks of Lake Kantisarovar.

Spiritual Significance

In Sanatan Dharma, the Guru is worshipped as Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara incarnate ("Gurur Brahma Gurur Vishnuh..."). The Guru removes the darkness of ignorance (Gu) and leads the disciple into the light of divine truth (Ru).

Puja Vidhi & Celebration

Disciples visit ashrams and teachers to perform Guru Puja, wash their feet (Padapujan), offer flowers and dakshina, and meditate on the Guru's teachings.
