Karwa Chauth

The sacred fast of marital love, devotion, and prayers for the long life, prosperity, and well-being of the husband.

Karwa Chauth

Mythological Story

Karwa Chauth is inspired by the legendary devotion of Queen Veeravati and Queen Karwa. When Queen Karwa's husband was caught by a crocodile, she bound the beast with unspun cotton yarn and compelled Yama (the God of Death) through her tapasya to grant her husband long life.

Spiritual Significance

Karwa Chauth deepens the spiritual bond between husband and wife, renewing vows of lifelong loyalty, love, mutual respect, and family prosperity.

Puja Vidhi & Celebration

Married women wear red traditional attire, apply mehndi, and observe a strict waterless fast from sunrise. In the evening, they listen to the Karwa Chauth Katha, view the moon through a sieve (Chhalni), perform moon arghya, and break their fast with water offered by their husbands.
