Shardiya Navratri & Durga Puja

Nine divine nights dedicated to the nine sacred forms of Maa Durga, celebrating the victory over the demon Mahishasura.

Shardiya Navratri & Durga Puja

Mythological Story

Navratri commemorates the epic battle between Goddess Durga and the demon king Mahishasura. Gifted with a boon of invincibility against gods and humans, Mahishasura terrorized the heavens. The Holy Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) combined their supreme energies to manifest Devi Durga. Riding a lion and armed with celestial weapons, the Goddess fought the demon for nine days and nights, ultimately slaying him on the tenth day (Vijaya Dashami).

Spiritual Significance

Navratri is a sacred period for spiritual rejuvenation, inner purification, and tapping into the cosmic feminine power (Shakti). Worshipping the Navadurgas grants courage, removes fears, and destroys negative tendencies like anger, greed, and ego.

Puja Vidhi & Celebration

Devotees establish the sacred Kalash (Ghatasthapana), observe nine days of fasting, recite the Durga Saptashati, and perform Kanya Pujan (worshipping young girls as forms of the Goddess). In Gujarat, vibrant Garba and Dandiya Raas take place, while West Bengal celebrates magnificent Durga Puja pandals.
